NEXUS targets artists and cultural practitioners to provide a platform for developing their practice. The course will address the "Reading, Unpacking, and Rewriting Global Art Histories". NEXUS will include a broad survey of global currents in the arts throughout the 20th century and the present. This 4-month series of lectures, assignments, and mentorship opportunities aims to equip participants with conceptual currents in modern and contemporary art.

About the instructor:

William Wells is the Director of Educational Programs and Exhibitions at Al Riwaq. He is a curator, writer, and art critic. Wells set up the Townhouse Gallery, Cairo, in 1998 to promote contemporary art in Egypt. He served as an educational advisor to the UK’s Arts Council and Crafts Council. Wells sits on the board of the Foundation for Arts Initiatives, is the Chairman of the Townhouse Foundation in Sweden, and is currently Director of Educational Programs and Exhibitions at Al Riwaq.
